Your Vital Signs. Vita means life, and these are the signs that you are alive.
1. Blood pressure: the optimal numbers are 120/80 –Hypertension is diagnosed at 140/90. You are in an emergency: 180/120.
2. Heart rate: measures your heartbeats per minute. The numbers are 60-100.
3. Blood sugar: measures the level of sugar in your blood: number 70-110.
4. A1C: a blood test that measures the average of your blood sugar over a period of 3 months. Below 5.7 is optimal. At 7 you are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
5 Cholesterol: there are so many blood tests to measure your cholesterol, but your total cholesterol should be under 199. If you are taking medication, you should check your levels for both blood pressure and blood sugar before.
The American Heart Association defines Hypertension as 140/90. You are in Crisis/emergency: 180/120.
